He’s slowly enjoying the swimming. He really likes being in that car floater that we borrowed from Linda. He looks like he’s chilling out in his ride as I’m pushing him in the pool.

T actually had a chance to come with us and witness the little dude go for a swim. That was rather fun treat for us even if he only stayed for about 5 minutes.

Usually we go swimming at the pool during the day as the crowds are few and far between. We stay about a half hour at the most as that’s all Pax can handle at this point in time.

I think I will try this swimming technique that K and P told us about which I may have mentioned in a previous post. I really want him to be comfortable in the water.

Sundays is a loooong day, originally uploaded by lilsoak.

Getting up and going to church is always challenging for Paxie. We head out
just around the time for his morning nap.

I never get a chance to fully listen to the sermon as I have to settle Pax
down. He always gets over stimulated by all the new faces he sees and the
worship time. Also if there is someone with long hair then he tries his
hardest to reach out and yank.

The church we have been going to has a lot of parents with kids Pax’s age
and I’m also liking the community there as well. It’s worth the half hour
drive.

Anyways we had a funfilled Sunday, trying out brazilian food and ice treats
(to be blogged another day) but when we got home Pax refused to nap.

This is a result of us heading out for dinner. His poor little head was
launch forward and S had to gently push it back and the seatbelt made a mark
on his face. He’s the sweetest when he sleeps because it means mama gets a
break!

He’s still sleeping as I write this. Yay!

7 months

Pax 6 months, originally uploaded by lilsoak.

Wow,what a difference a month makes for the little dude.  Here is a month ago with his fun time cousin before we made the move to Austin. I never did get a chance to post his 6 month picture until now. I love this picture and especially my niece’s expression.

Here he is, a month later, just outside the Chipotle restaurant. More about the restaurant in a bit. If you take a closer look at the picture you can see that there is one bottom tooth coming through. I have discovered today that another tooth is also poking through the gums.

So what has the Paxter accomplished at 7 months?

  • He’s learned to scream. It’s a new scream. It’s not very nice sounding to the ears and it’s so difficult to get him to feed when he starts.
  • He also takes forever and a day to fall asleep because he realizes that turning over and doing push ups is more fun.  He love to bang anything onto a surface that makes some kind of noise.
  • He’s not very environmentally friendly as he loves plastic bags.  Flinging them around and listening to the sound scrunch scrunch scrunch in his chubby fingers makes him a happy bunny.
  • He’s learning to lean forward to reach for objects and doesn’t freak out if he pitches forward.
  • He’s getting used to his new digs,
  • He’s learning to recognize the signs for “more”, “all done” and “nai nai”
  • He has a new laugh
  • He has a mullet
  • He loves sucking on any kind of cords.  Especially my computer cords. Luckily it’s not plugged in.

He’s pretty chill about the hot weather here in Austin. He doesn’t seem to be super sensitive to the heat and then going into air conditioning.  I think the only thing that bothers him is the hot buckles in the car when we strap him up.

He’s been exposed to lots of fruits and veg.  The only meat I have given him is chicken so far.  He seems to like most foods and when he really likes something, then he scrunches up his nose and smiles until his eyes disappear. I made him some peach puree today and also I finally made him some congee. I think he is starting to graduate from purees to more bits of food.

Let’s get back to the Chipotle restaurant.  It’s not your run in the mill fast food mexican restaurant.  They serve food that mostly uses organic meats and vegetables. Their menu is simple but they wanted to provide people with wholesome and delicious ingredients.  It’s really good and their guacamole is quite good. If you are in the US, then it’s worth a try. I even fed Pax some of the cheese and he seems to like it.

It’s been a topsy turvy time reaching this 7 month milestone. Here’s hoping for a calmer 8 months. Happy 7 months Pax, we love you to bits.

pdestroytrain, originally uploaded by lilsoak.

My 4 sum gave the P-ster this cool little train set and so I finally had a chance to put it together for him to show him how the train moves and so forth.

He watched it for a mere thirty seconds and was completely mesmerized. He proceeded to then destroy the train tracks to nom on it and like the sound of the plastic hitting the floor instead.

On a developmental note, he is sitting for longer periods of time and he can now push himself back up to sitting position if he’s leaning forward. There is still no crawling but he is getting to the point where he can push himself to the standing position.

I’m not too worried about the fact that he’s not crawling or walking yet. One day he’ll just pick it up and then I have to chase him down. That will be my exercise!

He’s still having trouble falling asleep on his own and adhering to the 2 naps. I’m really trying hard to keep him on a routine but I think the move is still raw and new to him so I have a feeling it will take more time for him and for us to adjust.

He’s 5 months old today and we celebrate by being able to hold ourselves up in the sitting position.  It’s only for a 1 minute or so but luckily there is soft carpet and parents to spot him.   He also likes to drool and grazes over his food as he gets distracted by his cousin, the wind, the tv and so on and so on.

He’s able to grab things more succinctly and can take out his soother and manage to put it back in his mouth the same way.  He’s taken a big liking to eating paper as well.

For the past couple of weeks, I noticed that I haven’t been able to get up for his night feed so T ends up bringing him up to our room. I have been overly tired but I also think it’s because I am sleeping at 11pm whereas I was sleeping at 9pm before so that could be a factor.  Paxter still likes to get up at the crack of dawn and he does not go down easy if it’s past his bedtime.

I took a nap for the first time in awhile and I ended up having 2 nightmares and they both involved T.  Needless to say, I hate sleeping during the day. That means, early bedtime for me.

Happy 5 months Paxie.  I look forward to sharing some fruity goodness with you soon.

If you are my flickr friend, I’m starting to post videos of the Paxter. There is just one currently of him on the swings for the first time.  I’m also going to post up a video of Pax’s first swim.  Um…I think we have to wait until warmer weather as his lips started to turn blue.

At least he smiled in the bathtub yesterday so it looks like he’ll be content to “swim” in the bathtub for the time being until he’s a little older.

It’s such a hassle to go out and about with the Paxter when it’s raining outside.  I have no rain cover for the stroller and I’m paranoid that he’ll be too cold  when the rain falls over him as we move from the car into the store when I run errands.

I’m also finding him really difficult these last few days. Every single time I put him down for a nap or to bed, he cries so loudly and usually it’s because he hasn’t eaten enough but when I feed him, he gets too distracted and starts to look around instead of filling his belly full of milk.  If he’s too worked up then I have to spend some time calming him down before feeding or he just cries madly into my chest and will refuse to latch.

The deadliest combination is when he’s hungry and overtired.  Then it’s usually an hour of pure torture where he ends up pulling my hair or pinching me with his iron grip.

He’s happy right now though playing in the excersaucer.  He’s purring and chatting with the frog.  He’s figured out how to turn and play with all the dials and buttons not just through his hands but by gnawing on it.  If he’s super happy, he’ll drool over it.

I just hope his crabby days will soon pass and we can get back to a routine feed and sleep mode. Please God?  Pretty please?
