I have become soft around the edges since I have moved back from Toronto because I can’t stand long commutes but I am hoping that I love the new job that it doesn’t matter.  I’m excited at my first day of work but it is a solid 50 minute commute one way. I think it’s also because the transportation and transit is just not as efficient as Toronto.  That being said though, the Canada Line opens today which means that Richmond becomes a lot more accessible which would be great except I’m going the opposite way of the Line.

Well, I better jet if I want to make it on time!

The quality of my writing has just gone down the drain. I am finding it difficult to blog and I wonder if it’s because I’m too careful about filtering myself.  Perhaps my brain is just mushy from the role balancing I have been doing teaching high school and trying to work on this business. I was always in awe of this teacher buddy of mine because he basically had a construction business as well as being a full time teacher.  I have no idea how he does it!

Monday’s my last day of classroom teaching and then I will be cleaning up the lab, marking and invigilating exams.  Did I enjoy my school year? It had its ups and downs but I met a couple of really cool people that I would like to keep in touch with.  I have always believed though, that teaching is a calling and some people do it really well, others, not so much.

I’m not sure what’s in store for me next.  Being laid off it part of the teaching game as there were huge budget cuts and I have been looking for a job for awhile now. It’s a struggle to find something but I need to trust that the right thing will come along at the right time. I have been looking at jobs in the education, NGO, health care and non-profit.  I would love to do something that I can stand behind.  The lower mainland is tough job market!

We’re also moving, which adds to the complexity of the situation.  I figure I should enjoy the rest of June, work on my side projects and when we are settled at the new locaton then I can start looking more vigorously for a day job. That sounds like a plan.
